ONLINE MARRIAGE APPLICATION
You can now register online for your Marriage License and then pick up your marriage license at the court. Please click link on the left side of the page to get started.
Marriage License Application At least one of these criteria must be met in order to apply for a marriage license in HANCOCK COUNTY and it is 30 days from your wedding date:
1. At least one party must be a HANCOCK County resident. (Proof of residency is required)
2. Both parties must be from out of state and the ceremony must be taking place in HANCOCK County.
If you meet at least one of these requirements then you can proceed as follows:
- Complete the application to the best of your ability, including those fields that are not listed as required.
- Marriage license is only valid for 60 days. Be sure you are applying for the Marriage License within 60 days of the date of your wedding.
REQUIRED AT APPOINTMENT:
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID, Passport, Visa or Green Card.
- If the address is not a current HANCOCK County Address on one of the ID’s, then 2 utility bills or business mail are required to prove residency.
- A certified copy of the most recent divorce/dissolution decree, if applicable. A certified copy of death certificate if a former spouse is deceased.
- If either party does not have a social security number, they must contact the Probate Court for instructions.
- If either party is a minor you cannot pre-register online. All minor couples needing a marriage license, will need to contact the Probate Court at 419-424-7066.
